The Real Truth about Emily Carr
Tuesday, Nov 15 & Nov 22, Vancouver Public Library

Migration: Archetype & Complexes
September 30 at 7:30 pm  C.G. Jung Society of Vancouver Museum of Vancouver

Migration is an archetype, the great allegory of life, leaving a familiar place for an unknown future. In essence, migration is about attachment, separation and loss requiring mourning with adaptation challenges to self-esteem and identity. The 1st generation (those who come) and the 2nd generation (born in the new country) differ in their ideas about adaptation. The most positive relocation is when migration is voluntary without premigration traumas, an easy passage and welcoming host country. All migrants go through an initial euphoria followed by reality testing and adaptation defense mechanisms. As the Jung Society, there is always a lively question and answer period. http://www.jungvancouver.org/

Rediscover Artist Emily Carr
May 2, 2015,  Founders Hall, Augustana University, Camrose, Alberta

Early biographers who use Victorian expectations of women have painted a picture of artist Emily Carr as poor, angry, rebellious and crazy, these stereotypes of the single woman in the last century are refuted with historical evidence and Carr’s own writings. Today we can see Emily Carr as a woman before her time, and a role model for the 21st century. She believed in herself and her artistic mission, and had good psychological boundaries—she could say “no” and made her own decisions.

Nature in the Sandtray Nov 4-6, 2011
Canadian association for Sandtray Therapy, 6th National conference, Toronto

CG Jung speaks of earth having a soul and the spirit of the land living in us. He argues our present danger is alienation from nature or not honouring nature inside and outside of us. What does it mean when nature emergences in our Sandtray constructions?  Using case studies, this presentation explores the emergent meaning of the use of natural materials in Sandplay and the creation of nature scenes.
